MUA Make-Up Review

The other day I popped into town to buy some amenities from Superdrugs. Stumbled upon a make-up brand called MUA as I was heading to pay. Ended up buying a couple of bits which totaled to £15 which I thought was pretty good for the amount I bought.

Eye Shadows
left to right:
 Shade 1 - Pearl
Shade 2 - Pearl
Shade 17 - Matt
Shade 3 - Pearl
Shade 20 - Matt

I did some swatches of these products. I think the eye shadows themselves are very pigmented and for the price you pay it it's well worth it. I was a little dissapointed with Shade 17 - Matt (no.3 in pic) as on my skin tone it doesn't really show up at all. It would work well I guess as a base colour or on somebody with darker skin tone. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with these eye shadows and might buy more off the website as these were last minute impulse buys at the checkout. Price: £1

Blushers & Bronzer
left to right:
Cupcake (blusher)
Lolly (blusher)
Shade 3 (bronzer)

Really pleased with the result of these product. They had a few more colours in the blusher but I went for these two as I thought they were pretty cute colours. The bronzer also comes in two other colours, one of them having alot more shimmer in it and the other slighty lighter with orange tones. Price: £1

Radiant Under Eye Concealer
By far one of my favourite cheap buys at only £3! I've tried some high end brands and this product pretty much does the same job for a fraction of the price! I do still love my YSL touche eclat but if your looking for a cheaper alternative this is for you. I do use this as a highlighter pen also, so above my cheekbones and along the bridge of my nose and between my eyebrows - works great! Price: £3 (swatch below)

Extreme Felt Eyeliner
*Updated - Will never get this product again, noticed that about a week after I got this and with barely using it it was already drying up. The liquid never came down to the tip and there is no way of making the nib soak up any of the liquid in the pen* Once I opened this product up it was a total mess! Liquid flicked out everywhere!! Closed it for a couple of minutes as I weren't using it yet then open and BAM! same thing happened again but just not as bad, the eyeliner is a pen form. You can't adjust how much liquid you want to use which is kind of a pain.. however I still tried it out. This product took ages to dry, it ruined my eye make-up. As I was looking up to apply my mascara on my bottom lashes it printed itself on my eyelid haha. Once the product is on tho it does last awhile, I haven't worn it out yet or on a rainy day so dunno how it'll hold up to that. Not sure if I would get this product again or recommend it to anyone, it would be ok as a last resort eyeliner as it is quite pigmented and did look ok on but the mess you get from it just isn't convincing me. Price: £2 (swatch below)

Eyeliner Pencil (Snow White)
Really liked this product. Showed up very well, very pigmented and blended nicely. I've tried some pencil eyeliners which were very hard to apply, where you would need to keep drawing over and over whilst pressing down really hard. This one is very easy to use apply. Almost like a cream-like texture but in a form of a pencil. Would definitely recommend this product. Price: £1 (swatch below)

Eyebrow Pencil (Eyebrow Brunette)
Really easy to apply and blend. The brush on the end comes in handy to blend it all out to make the eyebrows look nice and smooth instead of seeing visible lines across your eyebrows. Would have been good if they had provided it with a lid that had a sharpener on the end like the eye pencils do like above. I still prefer using an angled brush and powder (I use a matt eyeshadow) instead but I wouldn't get rid of this product just yet :) Price: £1 (swatch below)

Swatches of: radiant concealer, felt eyeliner, pencil eyeliner, eyebrow pencil in both drawn and blended by brush.

Missha Signature BB Cream - No.23 Natural Yellow Biege
MUA Radiant Under Eye Concealer
Bare Minerals READY Foundation - R310
MUA Bronzer - Shade 3
MUA Blusher - Cupcake
MAC Prep+Prime Eye
MAC Eyeshadow - Cork
MUA Eyeshadow - Shade 1 - Pearl
MUA Eyeshadow - Shade 17 - Matt
MUA Eyeshadow - Shade 20 - Matt
MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner
MUA Pencil Liner - Snow White
Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara - Black
MUA Brow Pencil - Brunette
MAC Kissable Lipcolour - Woo Me

I used these products above (mostly MUA) to do my make-up today. Btw, my eye make-up isn't perfect. I need to work on applying and blending! >_<".. Here are a couple of photos:

Hope you enjoyed reading my review as much as I did writing it! The weekend's over now, back to work tomorrow and I'm sure the monday blues will kick in :(

Korean Festival - New Malden

What I Wore:
 Forever21 Pin Stripe Shirt
Bershka Knit Jumper
Bershka Coloured Jeans
Converse White Hi-Top Trainers
Urban Outfitters 'HOMIES' bag

So on Saturday 17th August, there was a Korean festival that was held at New Malden. I'm pretty sure they picked that day to hold the festival because it was the first Saturday after Korean Independence Day (I could be wrong haha). Anywho.. me and some friends went down to check it out hoping to try out lots of various foods and see some cultural performances but once we got there it was surprisingly not what we expected at all. There wasn't much there to do or see involving Korea. They had a stage where they were showing acts, performances and kids demonstrating korean tae kwon do. There was only a few hot food stalls - none of them actually selling korean food apart from a Japanese stall that were selling Tteokbokki (korean spicy rice cakes).

However, we tried to make the most of our day and started off by getting ourselves some food - we went for the Japanese place. I chose a chicken bento box which was suppose to come with rice but came with noodles instead as they had run out of rice. My friend also got some dumplings to share along with some tteokbokki. The chicken bento tasted ok, pretty standard in my opinion but everything you get was pretty worth it for £5. I really liked the dumplings - it was juicy, nice tasty filling and soft yet slightly crispy on the outside. The portions of the tteokbokki were HUGEE and tasted delicious! One portion was £4 which I would say could feed 2-3 people if you were getting a main meal along with it. They were selling really fast and took awhile to wait for the next batch so my friend bought 3 boxes! Haha.. we didn't end up finishing them tho so my friend took them back home with him.

So like I said before there weren't many things there that involved Korean Culture such as the stalls around that were selling things. It seemed as though a lot of people took the opportunity for themselves to sell their own stuff. Such as freshly made pies, cupcakes, accessories and other bits and bobs. I didn't take pictures of all the stalls but here are a few along with the stage:

It started to rain :(.. so we left early and stopped off at a place called Hyun's Bakery to
grab some buns and then at a korean supermarket. LOVED IT at the supermarket!! There was so many snacks, drinks and junk junk junk I wanted to buy but I resisted pretty well :D

Woah.. this blog actually took me awhile to fix up because the CSS kept messing up when I was sorting the photos out! Gaahh- Thanks for reading guys! With Love, Jen.

Denim on Leather

A couple of month ago I was out trying to find the perfect oversized denim jacket, even to date I still haven't found one. I did try on a really nice one from Urban Outfitters and regret not getting it now! :( It was from the renewal range which means they customize and redesign an old piece of clothing. Here are two I tried on. The one in the first picture is the one I regret not getting.. for only £55!

So what I wore out this day was a combination of denim & leather. At that time I was in loveee with all things leather! Leather skirts, tops, pants and even leggings which had leather bits and designs on them, I had the whole lot! I also really like denim tops and the different shades and styles they come in however I find it hard to buy denim tops/shirts to fit my body shape. Maybe because it's denim it sits differently on myself - their usually not fitted so the outcome is sometimes unflattering haha. Take a look at my outfit I wore:

 What I Wore:
Zara Denim Short Sleeve Button Collar Shirt
Zara Leather Front Panel Patterned Skirt
Forever21 Necklace & Accessories
Michael Kors Watch
Tory Burch Leather Bracelet

Healthy Oat Pancakes

Since I've started going gym two months ago I've tried to change my lifestyle and eating habits.. eating more fruits as a snack or whenever I feel peckish, changing bad carbs to good carbs when I possibly can i.e: oats, brown rice, cous cous etc.

So I was extremely happy when I recently found a user on instagram called 'videomeals'. I'm telling you, his videos are just aaaamazing!! So quick and simple with the bonus of tasting great! I tried out his pancake recipe made with oats, greek yoghurt and egg white with a few changes here and there to suit my own taste. Love that you can use oats in a pancake mixture because I hate eating normal oats/porridge unless I overload it with sugar or something sweet. Here are the ingredients I used:

Ingredients:
50g oats (100% rolled oats would be best)
125g greek yoghurt (fat-free optional)
2 egg whites
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
raspberries (desired amount)
icing sugar for dusting (optional)

Firstly, blend the oats down to a powder/flour form. Stir in the baking powder and ground cinnamon. Next add the egg whites, greek yoghurt and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is combined the mixture may be a little thicker than normal pancake mixture due to the oats. I like to make my pancakes small.. this mixture will make you around 6-7 small sized pancakes or 2-3 larger sized ones. Add a little oil to a pan and once the pan is hot, using a ladle or wooden spoon scoop some of the mixture into the pan, you will need to use the back of the spoon to spread the mixture out. Cook for about 2 minutes on a low heat then flip to cook the opposite side. Once cooked start stacking them onto a place, add some raspberries or alternatively whichever fruit you like and dust off with some icing sugar. If you do like your pancakes a little sweeter I would suggest you to add 1 tsp of sugar into the mixture.

If you do happen to try this out and have any suggestions in changing anything please leave me a comment and let me know what you think! Thanks for reading. Jen :)

Last week I decided to do a spot of shopping, felt like I was living in converses and flats for too long so I really wanted to wear my new pair of heels out which I purchased the day before from forever21. Dressed it down with a simple black midi jersey dress and a large asos necklace piece. Also thought I would do abit more with my make-up so I tried out some new products which included: Avon's glimmerstick lip liner and Bare Minerals pretty amazing lip gloss.
